The first in a series of events for BiH citizens with which the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will mark half a century since its founding and 20 years of existence and operation in BiH this year, was held yesterday in Sarajevo.
This all-day event was full of different contents and performances, and in accordance with the mission and long-term goals of UNDP, which supports youth initiatives, ten young and talented students and academic painters were hosted as well.
Guided by their own creative vision, these talented young people made remarkable canvases which represent projects of UNDP in BiH. Small producers of organic foods, which started their production thanks to the development projects of UNDP, also presented their products.
UNDP is global development network of the UN which operates in almost 170 countries and territories. There are three universal focuses of the organization: people, planet and prosperity. UNDP in the world, including BiH, is working on eradication of poverty and reducing social exclusion.
They emphasized that they are based on social inclusion and full elimination of poverty, with the support of international development partners, which is a priority goal of the organization until the year of 2030.
Last year, the reconstruction of 150 public buildings in BiH improved direct health services, administration services, education and legal assistance to around 500,000 citizens. Also, 180 projects of reconstruction of municipal infrastructure was realized as well.
The following events are planned this summer in Banja Luka, Mostar, Trebinje and Bihac, as announced from the UNDP.
