The United States Senate voted unanimously last night to confirm the nomination of Maureen Elizabeth Cormack to be the U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ambassador-designate Cormack is currently serving as the Executive Assistant in the Office of President Obama’s Special Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL. She will be transferring those responsibilities to her successor in the coming weeks and preparing to travel to BiH.
Until such time as Ambassador-designate Cormack is officially sworn in at the Department of State and presents her diplomatic credentials to the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Chargé d’Affaires Nicholas Hill will continue to act as Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia Herzegovina.
Commenting on yesterday’s Senate proceedings, Ambassador-designate Cormack noted, “Needless to say, I was extremely pleased to have been confirmed and really look forward to arriving in BiH soon.”
