President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik stated yesterday that the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo rejected his request for diplomatic visa for the departure to the inauguration of the new U.S. President Donald Trump, explaining that he is not traveling there as a representative of BiH. Dodik also showed the invitation for this ceremony.
“Then what is the purpose of the diplomatic passport of BiH?” Dodik asked and added that he might renounce on this passport and start traveling with the Serbian passport as of next year.
The President of RS emphasized that he received the invitation from the people who were in Trump’s election staff and who are also part of the team that deals with the transition of the previous American administration towards the new one. Dodik said that the credentials are waiting for him in Washington.
Dodik retold the phone conversation he led with the Deputy Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of State Hoyt Yee, who asked from him to renounce on SNSD’s policy and respond to the invitations by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
Dodik called the entire story a harangue directed by the U.S. Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack.
“The entire harangue started the moment when the name of Milorad Dodik appeared on the official list of invitees, together with a certificate with the name Milorad Dodik and invitations to the ball,” said Dodik.
Yee allegedly accused Dodik of causing the deadlock on BiH’s path towards the EU and he also requested from the SNSD to renounce on the declaration regarding the processes in 2018.
“I said that the previous U.S. administration is to be blamed for the crisis in BiH and I asked them to leave BiH. I also told them that SNSD will not give up on its policies,” Dodik stated.
Dodik also added that the phone conversation was led in the presence of Maureen Cormack.
“One day after that conversation, my diplomatic visa was rejected, with the explanation that I am not traveling there as a representative of BiH,” Dodik said.
