The Commission to Preserve National Monuments of BiH declared two architectural ensembles as national monuments – Cekalusa Street in the area between Mejtas and Dzidzikovac Street in Sarajevo and the Old Parish Church and the old parish house in the Parish of St. Francis of Assisi in Zovik, Brcko District.
At the session held on the 20th and 21st of June, the Commission concluded to delete the historic building – City Hall in Novi Grad and architectural ensemble – Mosque in Dabrica (Mosque of Sefer-aga Begovic) in Berkovici, from the list of endangered monuments, since conservation and restoration works on these object have been completed.
The Commission announced that currently there are 82 monuments on the list of endangered monuments of BiH, for which it is necessary to provide funds for their restoration, reconstruction and conservation.
The Assembly also made the decision to extend protection for properties for which the deadline of one year from the date of submission already expired.
In the past 14 years, the Commission adopted 976 decisions, 820 positive and 156 negative decisions.
A large number of these decisions is related to the protection of architectural ensembles, historical and archaeological sites, and entire archives and collections, so that the number of individual goods that are covered by the protection on the basis of the decision of the Commission amounts to thousands of movable and immovable monuments, as noted in the statement.
