The hours-long waiting on the border will become past. As of next season, Trebinje and Dubrovnik will be connected with modern border crossings with several lanes, and probably open for trade traffic. This was announced by the Indirect Taxation Authority, which provided two million BAM and all conditions for construction of a border crossing on Ivanica.
“There will be several lanes for entrance and exit, with all necessary premises for officials of the Border Police and other inspection services. The border crossing will be entirely compliant with the standards of the European Union,” explained the spokesman of the ITA Ratko Kovačević.
International tender will be published next week and deadline for application of contractors is 45 days.
On the other side of the border, a project is being prepared for the construction of international border crossing that would be in accordance with all European standards and have several lanes.
According to announcements from Croatia, Brgat should also shine in a new light until next summer, so the crowds on border crossings at the peak of the season would be significantly reduced. Passengers on both sides of the border are still skeptical.
Passengers have been waiting for years to get a good border crossing. The difficulty is usually in unsolved property-legal issues, but that problem has been solved, stated the ITA.
