The Turkish agency for cooperation and coordination TIKA launched a project “Growing raspberries and ensuring working places in the rural areas” in Maglaj, Zavidovići, Zenica and Žepče.
The project was launched in cooperation with the organization “Zlatni ljiljan” and aims to decrease unemployment as well as to enable production in the fertile areas.
The TIKA’s support covered 20 families whose members are unemployed in the first phase of the project. They were given seedlings for raspberries, irrigation system and protective wire.
This help for the citizens of the mentioned towns was handed in the presence of the TIKA’s coordinator for B&H, Adem Urfa and the representatives of the “Zlatni ljiljan” organization.
Within this project, contracts with the companies working on processing wild berries will be signed too. This will enable this area’s citizens to grow raspberries with a safe repurchase.
This way, the raspberry growers should achieve an annual income of around 6 000 BAM while around 100 people should have benefits from this project.
