During his visit to the company “Edna metalvorking” this week in Prijedor, the Head of EU Delegation to BiH, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, stated that one of the topics of all pre-election debates should be the opening of new workplaces, improvement of the living standard of citizens and hiring of young people.
“This company is an example of how EU funds were used in the right way,” said Wigemark.
He added that projects of support to small and medium sized enterprises are very important activities that the EU is realizing in cooperation with UNDP and local authorities.
Edita Rahman, the director of “Edna Metalvorking”, stated that the newly founded company rented a space of 200 square meters, employed three production workers and started production three years ago.
“We have 27 workers at the moment and we are looking for three more workers. Our entire production program is created for a very demanding market of Germany,” said Rahman, and noted that they are producing substations for heating and pipelines for hot water in households and that they sometimes export three times a week.
Rahman noted that they applied on a public invitation for the support of small and medium-sized enterprises for purchase of machines that was announced by UNDP and EU funds.
The value of the machine is more than 100,000 BAM, and funds received through the EU project amounted to 38,000 BAM.
Wigemark also visited the incubator in the Business Center Prijedor.
