The Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) between B&H and the European Union comes into force on June 1st. To mark this occasion a meeting of the head of the EU Delegation to B&H and EU Special Representative Lars-Gunnar Wigemark and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdić will be held on Monday.
The meeting is to be held in the BIH building of the institutions with a press brief to follow.
On April 21, 2015 the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs adopted the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H).
The Stabilisation and Association Agreement is a framework for relations between the European Union and B&H. A gradually established free trade area between the EU and Bosnia will be established with this contract. The agreement also creates common political and economic objectives and promotes regional cooperation. In the context of EU accession, the contract serves as the basis for implementation towards the accession process.
The decision will allow B&H to make progress in its relations with the EU, and should give a positive impetus for the continuation of the socio-economic, judicial and other reforms required for the European integration process. The overall objective is to enable B&H to prepare for future EU membership.
