The Public Enterprise Motorways of FB&H ensured half a billion BAM for a new investment cycle of building 20 kilometers of highway, which should begin in 2015, it was confirmed in this company.
“This is very important for the continuity of the construction. It is about constructing two sections. For the section Počitelj – Međugorje, 11 kilometers in length, 100 million euros were secured from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This is a very favorable credit line intended for the infrastructure projects with a repayment period of 25 years, a grace period of five years and an interest rate of less than 1 percent”, it was announced from the Public Enterprise Motorways of FB&H.
The most interesting object on the Počitelj – Međugorje section will be the Počitelj Bridge, the longest bridge on the Corridor 5C. It will be 945 meters long with the maximum height of 100 meters above ground with monolith pillars and a 147 meters long superstructure between them. It will be built with the same technology as the 500 meters long Studenčica Bridge.
Other significant objects which will be built on this section are: two-pipe tunnel (1.200 meters), Počitelj interchange, Počitelj pay toll, inclusion to the M-17 highway, three viaducts, three underpasses and one overpass.
“The evaluation of the offers is in progress, followed by the tender announcement. We predict that the works on new 11 kilometers of the highway to the south will begin in summer this year. The deadline for the construction is 30 months from the contract signing. The funds are granted by the EIB, amounting to 100 million euros”, it was stated from the Public Enterprise Motorways of FB&H.
They stress that the new stretches of the highway to the south will be of great importance for the tourism and the economy.
“The positive effects will be reflected in the joint of Počitelj and Međugorje, and Mostar will approach the regional centers in neighboring Croatia and other EU countries as well”, it was emphasized from the Public Enterprise Motorways of FB&H.
For the section Zenica South – Zenica North (10 km long), financial means are secured from the OFID fund amounting to 60 million euros and 30 million euros from the Kuwait Fund for Reconstruction and Development.
”Construction works on one of the two lots on this section have already started. The procedure of verification of another 50 million euros necessary to complete 9 kilometers of the Zenica South-Zenica North section, along with the bridge that will connect the Zenica city detour with the highway, is in progress”, it was stressed from this enterprise.
The funds were previously negotiated with the Kuwait Fund for Reconstruction and Development and are required in 2017.
“Due to the optimization of the cash flow of companies, this procedure has been launched only recently. On the other hand, the Public Enterprise Motorways of FB&H received the approval of the Federal Government in the three-year business plan for further action on the construction of the highway on Corridor 5C through two modes”, it was announced from the Public Enterprise Motorways of FB&H.
The first model includes the continuation of the construction through further cooperation with international financial institutions.
“It is about the use of long-term infrastructure funding with very favorable repayment terms and interest rate. For this model, it is necessary to provide additional income for the Public Enterprise Motorways of FB&H. In this regard, last year it was agreed to increase the excise tax on the construction of the highway with the International Monetary Fund. This move would equal the excise amount to the countries in the region, which would bring the company an additional 1.2 billion BAM for the construction. It is planned to earmark these funds for the construction of the highway towards the Adriatic Coast”, it was emphasized from the Public Enterprise Motorways of FB&H.
The second model is the construction through concessions. The Model “Design-Finance-Build-Operate and return to the Purchaser” foresees the construction to the north of the country during 25 years.
