The Government of Republika Srpska (RS) yesterday extended the application of the General Collective Agreement for employees in that entity for another month.
This is the second time that the entity government intervenes in the area of workers rights with its decision, since the social partners have not reached an agreement regarding the General and Special Collective Agreements after the adoption of the new Labor Law in the RS.
“Having in mind that there was no conclusion of the new agreement in the period of extension of application of the General Collective Agreement, it was necessary to take a decision to extend the application of the General Collective Agreement for another 30 days, in order to conclude a new contract during this time,” as announced after a special session of the Government of RS.
Considering that realization of labor rights of all workers in the RS, which represents a general interest, depends on the application of this decision, the Government proposed that mentioned decision enters into force on the day after its publication in the “Official Gazette”, i.e. to be applied from the day when the application of previous decisions on the application of the provisions of the general collective agreement cease to be valid. This is necessary in order to prevent legal gaps and uncertainties.
