On the basis of the Decision of Minister of Security of BiH, Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH and State Investigation and Protection Agency of BiH from May 18, 2018, the police officers were sent to monitor the state border for the purpose of preventing illegal migration together with the police officers of the Territorial Unit East – Visegrad of the Border Police of BiH.
The field of activity of TU East of Border Police of BiH with headquarters in Visegrad is the border zone of Zvornik, Bratunac, Srebrenica, Visegrad, Rudnik, Cajnice and Foca. Sending police officers to the eastern part of the border of BiH is the first form of support of the competent authorities that the Border Police of BiH requested numerous times due to increased migration pressure, the lack of 526 police officers and the fact that human and material-technical resources of this agency are almost exhausted after six months of extraordinary and intensified border measures.
The Border Police of BiH requested a support in all vacancies of police officers who are engaged in border checks and monitoring, extraordinary admission and training of additional cadets, and filling vacancies with temporary external migration of police officers from other police agencies.
In the period from January 1, 2018, until May 17, 2018, members of the Border Police of BiH conducted measures against 4,266 citizens of high migration risk countries, and they were mostly measures against their illegal entry into BiH, with which they were returned to the territory of Serbia and Montenegro.
The cooperation was intensified with increased migration pressures, and joint activities were agreed at meetings held in April and May 2018.
Moreover, the police officers who control the border in the areas covered by the border police units in Zvornik, Velika Kladusa and Trebinje are redirected from the other organizational units of the Border Police of BiH.
