Last year in Prague was presented the new Skoda Superb in whose design largely participated successful Omer Halilhodzic from Mostar. Halilhodzic is responsible for the external appearance of the latest model of Skoda SUV vehicle – Vision S as well.
This Herzegovinian started his career in the former company Herzegovina car, and through TAS Sarajevo he came to Volkswagen. Not long after, in 1995, he transferred to Mitsubishi, and 12 years later became one of the heads of Mercedes.
The study that was exhibited in Geneva is run by plugin hybrid system with 1.4-liter internal combustion engine (156 HP) and 40 kW electric motor. Moreover, a second electric motor (85 kW) was added on the rear axle, which operates independently from the hybrid system in the nose of the car.
Skoda Vision S has a driving range of up to 50 kilometers if only the electric drive is used. The producer states that the hybrid system provides a fuel consumption of only 1.9 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers.
Omer Halilhodžić born 1963 in Mostar is a Bosnian automotive designer.
A graduate of the University of Sarajevo with a degree in industrial design, Halilhodžić is currently the newest member of the famous designer team of Ferrari. Before that he was the exterior chief designer for the European styling centre of Mercedes-Benz, based in Germany. He moved to Mercedes-Benz in January 2008 after working for Mitsubishi Motors since 1995; he was previously employed at Volkswagen since 1991.
He considers Leonardo da Vinci to be the greatest designer of all time, and looks to nature for his inspirations.
He was responsible for the styling of the 2004 Mitsubishi Colt, and the concept cars which preceded it: CZ2, CZ3, CZ3 cabriolet, and CZT. He has since penned the Mitsubishi Concept Sportback, and the Mitsubishi Concept X, which presages the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X production car.
