The Srebrenica Memorial Center once again reiterates to a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik that this institution is not any “citizens’ association” or “organization” but an institution established by law by the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this regard, we want to emphasize it is time to review the legality of the establishment and operation of the “commissions” appointed by the entity government of Republika Srpska to submit reports on “the suffering of Serbs in Sarajevo from 1991 to 1995 and the suffering of all peoples in and around Srebrenica from 1992 to 1995. ”
– These commissions have no scientific capacity or credibility to impartially investigate the issues of Srebrenica genocide and other war crimes in BiH, including crimes committed during the siege of Sarajevo. Please note to the domestic and international public that one of the key figures in this political project, aimed at minimizing casualties, denying genocide and historical revisionism, is a certain Raphael Israeli, recognized and condemned in the State of Israel by most public opinion as an extreme rightist and In his book “The Arab Minority in Israel: Open and Hidden Processes”, he advocated the formation of concentration camps for the Arab population. Furthermore, Giuseppe Zaccaria, who is known to the local public as a spokesman for Fiat Serbia in Belgrade, is also a member of the Commission. The commissions also include Mr Gideon Greif, who has publicly claimed that “Jasenovac was a more monstrous place than Auschwitz” and is known for multiple public appearances aimed at politicizing the issue of crimes against Serbs during World War II, which in several times did so in direct coordination with Minister Ivica Dacic, which calls into question his academic credibility – the Srebrenica Memorial Center said.
The Srebrenica Memorial Center points out that, in addition to their role in denying genocide, the “commissions” are another opportunity for the non-transparent and non-targeted spending of budgetary resources belonging to all BiH citizens. They note that millions of stamps were similarly spent on the failed Srebrenica Historical Project program, also funded by the RS Government, whose reports also usually coincided with important events, anniversaries and judgments for the Srebrenica genocide as a form of political counter-attack.
– The Srebrenica Memorial Center does not accept, unlike para-projects of historical revision funded by the authorities in the RS entity, any political action within its framework, and in its action comes only when the nature of the crime of genocide is questioned, when denying the victims of genocide and when the survivors of the genocide are denied their right to protection of their dignity, their right to return from their places of exile and their right to the truth. We urge the institutions of the Republika Srpska Entities to return to the positions within which they accepted in the report of the “Commission for the Research of Events in and around Srebrenica from 10 to 19 July 1995”, which we considered being a unique example of a shift in minimalist, but still institutional, confrontation with the past, instead of engaging in shameful politicization and denial of the Srebrenica genocide through audits of their own reports and court-established facts – they conclude from the Srebrenica Memorial Center.
