Sarajevo – The 2nd Business forum of B&H diaspora “BHdiaFOR 2014” dedicated to the subject of “Encouraging investments and business cooperation with BH diaspora concerning the economic development of B&H” will be held on 2nd August in Sarajevo. It is organized by the Association “Our perspective” in cooperation with the World Union of the BiH Diaspora and the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.
Around 150 local and diaspora businessman, potential investors, representatives of the government and nongovernmental organizations and embassies will participate in this event.
The organizers point out that the businessman from diaspora have shown most interest in investment as well as in establishing cooperation, in the sector of renewable energy resources, tourism, IT sector, outsourcing, agriculture (especially organic agriculture) and certain activities within wood, metal and textile sector.
Specific projects, successful examples and experiences of other countries will be presented at the Forum.
There will also be an initiative for forming a development fund for the BiH diaspora which would financially stimulate our people outside and in BiH to invest in BiH and to cooperate. Another project is to cooperate with the academic community in order to establish a research center for migrations and development.
According to assessments made in the Ministry of Human rights and Refugees, there is around 2 million person of BiH origins living outside BiH which makes half of the total number of B&H population, and every year, BiH diaspora sends around 3 billion BAM to BiH which is 13,4 % of the total GNP.
The Business Forum of B&H Diaspora “BHdiaFOR 2014” is conceived as a mechanism with a mission to help the migrants to contribute to the growth and development of B&H and serves to intensify the circulation of resources and knowledge of the diaspora towards B&H in order to accelerate the economic and social development of the country.
The main financier of the forum is the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in BiH and the Forum is supported by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees in B&H as well as numerous government and nongovernmental and international organizations.
