Russian Ambassador to BiH Peter Ivancov has officially opened the exhibition “People of Russia” yesterday in Mostar and held a lecture at the Faculty of Philosophy.
Ambassador Ivancov said how he was happy because people in Mostar have an interest in Russian culture and language, which is an important aspect of friendly relations.
“We have student exchange opportunities and students do not only study Russian, but also medicine, many other sciences … We are very grateful to the University of Mostar for the possibility of studying Russian and we think cooperation is of mutual benefit,” Ambassador Ivancov said.
Ambassador Ivancov commented on the relations between the two countries and said he is not against BiH’s membership in NATO, but that this should be the decision of the people in this country.
“It’s your decision, not mine. Most of the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina wants the country to be a member of the European Union, but you know better than me that there is no consensus on your membership in NATO. The solution to that question is on you, “Ivancov said.
Ivancov added that the questions such as “NATO or Russia” or “EU or Russia” should never be asked and that there is a possibility of cooperation in all areas, Klix.ba reports.
