The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of BiH, which was giving two million BAM as an incentive for the construction of hotels with four and five stars, has shifted them to the development of rural and mountain tourism as well as the improvement of cycling and other trails.
Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism Edita Djapo believes that this is the future of tourism.
At the same plan, the cooperation with neighboring countries, Serbia and Croatia started.
“Those are regional projects. We are making main roads, as the ‘Via dinarica’, ‘Ceste meda (Roads of honey)’, ‘Ceste soli (Roads of Salt)’, ‘Putevi Valtera (Roads of Walter)’- bike paths which would link our major cities,” said Djapo.
She announced that the project “Roads of Valter” will be launched soon in Shanghai. Given that the movie ”Valter defends Sarajevo’ ‘is popular in China, we believe that Chinese tourists will be interested to visit interesting locations where the film was filmed in BiH and in Serbia.
Besides the development of rural and mountain tourism and cooperation with other countries, Djapo emphasizes that it is necessary to train people who are working in the tourism sector, such as, among others, top chefs and restaurateurs.
The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of FBiH is currently working on a new law on tourism, which is released in the procedure.
Djapo recalls that there is no law on tourist boards for a year and a half in FBiH, since it has been declared as unconstitutional.
