Deputy Chairman of BiH Council of Ministers and BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija went to Russia on the call of Russian Government, and he’ll stay there for two days, reports ekapija.ba
On the first day of visit, 30 May, Lagumdžija held a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on the topic ‘New Regional Paradigm in the Balkans’. Afterwards he opened the business forum BiH- Russia.
Twenty seven companies from BiH, representatives of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of BiH, representatives of Chamber of Foreign Commerce, Russian Chamber of Commerce and representatives of over 100 Russian companies attended the forum.
Lagumdžija said that Russia is a market rich in natural resources and it is attractive to BiH companies. He further noted that there BiH exporters and Russian investors should be in the focus of further cooperation of BiH and Russia.
He noted that the economic BiH and Russia have economic cooperation in the field of energy, infrastructure, pharmaceutical industry, food sector and tourism, and added that the cooperation can be achieved in almost all sectors noting that because of that businessmen from all sectors came to Russia to present their qualities and ideas, and he called all participants of the Forum to use it to start new business projects.
Lagumdžija said that his Ministry, Embassy of BiH to Russia will give its best to help in creating new contacts and improving and added that bilateral relation of BiH and Russia are developing and it is a good thing that there is a mutual will to improve the cooperation.
He met in Moscow with the Chief of Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandard) and vice-president of Inter-State Commission of Economic Relations f BiH and Russia Grigoriy Elkin and heads of leading Russian companies.
Lagumdžija said, during his meeting with Elkin, that BiH is interested in the continuation of the work of the Commission of Economic Relations of BIH and Russia, which should take the lead role in improving economic cooperation of two countries and to make a road map to agreeing about the Memorandum on Avoiding Double Taxation and Agreement on Mutual Protection of Investments of both countries.
