On the last day of March 2015, total deposit of citizens of BiH in 25 insured banks amounted to 16.5 billion BAM or for 0.42% less than on 31st December 2014, and in the same period savings of citizens amounted to 9.4 billion or by 1.27% more than on the last day of 2014, as announced from the director of the Agency for Deposit Insurance, Josip Nevjestic.
When asked how insured are deposits of BH citizens regarding to the still present crisis in the Euro zone, Nevjestic said that recent events in Bobar Bank, illustrate the best the security of savings of citizens in insured banks.
Nevjestic said that, based on the Law on deposit insurance in banks of BiH, Fund for deposit insurance invest funds in the most qualitative bonds guaranteed by the EU and all that according to the investment policy of the Agency for Deposit Insurance of BiH.
According to his words, there are currently 25 banks in the insurance program, and movement of all categories of deposit is being followed based on reports of banks whose credibility can be checked on the spot.
He emphasized that regardless to the fate of Euro or any other currency, deposits of BH citizens are still insured until the amount of insured deposit together with the accrued interest.
