Workers of Srbinjeputevi Company started to work on the reconstruction of the road Foča-ŠĆepan Polje, which will include broadening the most critical sections and curves of the road and setting up guard rails in the length of two and a half kilometers. The order for the official start of works was issued by the Public Enterprise “Roads RS”, and the deadline is 60 days.
As director of “Srbinjeputevi” Neđeljko Pavlović, confirmed for Radio Foča, first works include cutting down the vegetation and preparing the ground for the reconstruction of the road Brod on Drina-Šćepan Polje. In this first phase, priority is road section of the camp Baštaši next to the border with Montenegro, and at the end of this section the work will be continued on the remaining part of the road.
“We entered with the mechanization, and we will prepare a section for rehabilitation, which means cutting down low and high vegetation, and then we will start with work on the ground, road and curves widening and setting the railing. For the beginning, we will start from the fifteenth kilometer of this section to the border with Montenegro, “said Pavlović.
The Mayor of Foča, Radisav Mašić, and the Minister of Transport and Communications of RS, Neđo Trninić, were recently discussing issue of repairing the road to Šćepan Polje, and they agreed to immediately start with work.
Mašić said that this road is a priority for the municipality of Foča, adding that he expects the works that have started to be finished by the beginning of the tourist season.
“The value of the works in this first phase is around 623 000 KM, and the total funding for the rehabilitation of road Brod on Drina-Šćepan Polje is approximately 1.5 million KM,” confirmed Mašić.
