Gala reception attended by the highest political and economic authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was held on Monday here to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
In his welcoming speech, Chinese ambassador to BiH Ji Ping highlighted that over the past 70 years, the Chinese Communist Party has been committed to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
“Today, China’s aggregate economy has grown from 30 billion U.S. dollars to 13.6 trillion, increased by over 450 times,” Ji said, adding that people’s average life expectancy has extended from 35 to 77 years.
Being the world’s second largest economy, China has been a contributor of more than 30.0 percent of world economic growth for many years.
China’s development has been a miracle over the past seven decades, and that momentum continues with China’s growth rate reaching 6.3 percent.
When it comes to bilateral relations between BiH and China, Ji said that the practical cooperation between the two countries has been elevated to a higher level.
“Over the past years, we have been hearing good news on bilateral relations between China and BiH,” Ji emphasized.
Ji explained that the first thermal power plant in BiH built by Chinese is under operation, the construction of the first hospital featuring China-BiH cooperation is underway as well as the construction of the first highway to be built by the Chinese company.
Ji also stressed the good relations between the two countries in area of tourism, highlighting that in the first half of this year, over 45,000 Chinese tourists visited BiH, achieving a 99.0 percent increase year-on-year and making China the third largest source of foreign travellers to BiH.
“We will support BiH in holding the 4thChina-CEEC Transport Ministers’ Meeting and the 5thChina-CEEC Capital Mayors Forum, which will inject a new impetus into the economic and social development of BiH,” Ji concluded.
The reception was attended by member of BiH’s Presidency Milorad Dodik, BiH’s prime minister Denis Zvizdic, numerous ambassadors, and other political authorities.
