Sixty vehicles will drive through ten countries in ten days and they will pass around 5, 000 kilometres and thus collect funds for the SSAFA association, which is one of the oldest humanitarian organizations that is providing support to British soldiers and their families.
Rally for Heroes went through the streets of Mostar, and it is organized every two years and this is the fifth consecutive event. Members of the British armed forces, war veterans, as well as civilians who like to combine their love for cars and desire to support the armed forces take part in this event.
Steven Shaw, the Director of operations of Rally for Heroes and officer of Royal Navy, thanked for a warm welcome and stated that this tour was planned for eighteen months and it was realized thanks to the support of the Embassy of the United Kingdom, the Armed Forces of BiH and police units.
“This is very important to us because we are paying tribute to our heroes in this way. There is a car with photographs of 450 soldiers who were killed in Afghanistan, and it is a permanent memory of their sacrifice and we are paying tribute to their service to our country in this way,” noted Shaw, who also emphasized the charity work and a total of 130,000 GBP that they collected so far.
British veterans are helping their co-workers, but they also helped some of organizations in our country, such as the Center for Children and Youth “Los Rosales” in Mostar. The director of this organization, Mirna Mezit, thanked for their donation, and noted that she is proud of her institution and the fact that it is taking part in such a great and humane story.
After Mostar, this attractive crew will continue its journey to Sarajevo, and they will be socializing with citizens of our capital at 7 p.m.
