An automated system for renting public bicycles, the-so-called bike sharing, should be launched next spring in Banja Luka as the very first system of that kind in the RS.
“With the introduction of this system we are planning to promote a healthy lifestyle, ecology and sustainable development through increased use of bicycles in our everyday life,” said Slavisa Sandic, the head of the Department for traffic and roads in the City Administration.
Currently, they are planning to install four locations in the city with a total of 30 bicycles within the first phase, and they will be equipped with a corresponding terminal and renting and parking system for bicycles.
Users will be able to register via the Internet, mobile application, directly on the terminal or in the headquarters of the Department for traffic and roads.
Sandic also noted that the price for using the system has not been established yet, however, it will be deffinitely acceptable for everyone.
In this way, Banja Luka will join the network of European cities that are successfully practicing the “bike sharing” system for years.
