“Elektroprivreda Serbia’’will not be privatized, but will try to buy the electric power companies in the Republic of Srpska and Montenegro or to join with them”, said the Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vučić.
”I want to announce that we have different plans for EPS. We do not want to sell nor to privatize it. We wish to expand our influence, to talk with the Republic of Srpska and Montenegro. We will try to participate in the purchase or creation of joint companies with RS and Montenegro”, said Vučić.
The Department of Energy is analyzing how much this move would cost and how the work could be realized, confirmed Minister Aleksandar Antić.
Ministry and EPS are seriously analyzing how to make this activity feasible, since these are a valuable companies. The analysis will be completed in a few months. The value of this work is reflected in the fact that the EPS has become a serious player in the region, with better balanced production in different periods of the year.
Now, first thing we need to do is a reorganization in cooperation with the IMF in order to achieve savings so that EPS could rely on their own income and some credit lines for the realization of this work – says Antić, adding that Prime Minister Vučić would not mention this if “some possibilities for cooperation does not exist “.
