The International Isa-bey Ishakovic Award for the year of 2017 was awarded to the President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic, at the official ceremony that took place in the National Theater in Sarajevo.
The official awarding ceremony, which was held in the National Theater of Sarajevo, was attended by numerous invitees from the political, cultural and public life of BiH, including the member of the Presidency of BiH, Bakir Izetbegovic.
In his addressing after receiving the award, Vujanovic noted that this award is very important to him.
“This award is making me very happy for two reasons. First, it is awarded by the Committee that is consisted of academicians and university professors whose work and reputation give special value and significance to this award. Second, this award is named after Isa-bey Ishakovic, a regional benefactor, who founded Sarajevo 555 years ago on the value of unity and through the message of his life-work that the harmony and coexistence are values that we must permanently preserve through devotion to peace and development. And to peace and development we must be, and I believe that we are, truly dedicated,” noted Vujanovic.
This award is named after the founder of the capital city of BiH, Sarajevo, and it is awarded to presidents and statesmen, with which it is raising bridges and strengthening friendly relations between BiH and recipient’s countries.
The Isa-bey Ishakovic Award was founded by the Society for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Klepsidra, and it is awarded in the field of science, art, cultural heritage, patriotism and sevdah.
