The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is this year’s winner of the International Award Isa Beg Ishakovic, the biggest civic recognition in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
That was confirmed by Chairman of the International Award Isa Beg Ishakovic Committee, academician Ljubomir Berberovic, who stated that committee decided on a majority vote.
“The primary intention of founders is that International Award Isa Beg Ishakovic raises bridges and recognizes true friends of all peoples and our society. It is worth mentioning that recognition to a statesman represents a recognition to the fundament of that country, its characteristics, culture and all of its citizens”, said academician Berberovic.
The visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to BiH, when the International Award Isa beg Ishakovic will be handed over to him at a traditional ceremony in the National Theater Sarajevo, is the first visit of the president of Azerbaijan to our country since the recognition of its independence. That also represents a confirmation of the strong bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as the friendship between capital cities Sarajevo and Baku, which became brother cities back in 1972. They are also cities whose culture and inheritance with mutual features represent a valuable bridge between Europe and Asia.
Members of this year’s committee were academician Dejan Milosevic, academician Hanifa Kapidzic – Osmanagic, academician Taib Saric, academician Vladimir Premec, academician Perica Vidic, academician Abdulah Sarcevic, academician Zdenko Lesic, academician Slobodan Loga, academician Branislava Perunicic, academician Adila Pasalic – Kreso and others.
