The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), are conducting activities under the operation code named “Kayak”, in cooperation with police officers of the Organized Crime Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia (SBPOK) and the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime of the Republic of Serbia.
The activities are aimed at breaking up and prosecuting organized crime groups operating in the territory of Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, which have organized themselves to smuggle a large number of illegal migrants for the purpose of obtaining illicit property gain, according to Federal News Agency.
During the ‘Kayak’ operation, SIPA police officers in Bratunac area arrested one person suspected of being a member of an organized crime group organized for illegal smuggling and transfer of illegal migrants from Serbia to BiH for further transport to countries of the European Union.
At the same time, six suspects, including a suspected group organizer, were arrested in the coordinated operation by police officers of SBPOK Serbia.
