In the city of Barberton, Ohio, 41-year-old Oliver Dragić was arrested due to suspicion of providing inaccurate information during the process of obtaining the US visa.
Dragić is charged with committing a war crime during the war in BiH.
According to the findings of the court council, Dragić was a member of the Army of Republika Srpska when the genocide in Srebrenica took place.
After the war, he applied for the US visa claiming he is a victim of war. At the time he applied for the visa, he was a member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS.
The US authorities usually arrest suspects of war crimes on the basis of provision of inaccurate information during the process of obtaining a visa. After they are arrested, suspects have the opportunity to accept extradition to BiH, after which the US authorities withdraw from prosecution on the basis of provision of false information.
