The Office of the High Representative (OHR) today welcomed the new approach of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was announced yesterday at a meeting in Berlin.
OHR spokesperson Mario Brkić told FENA that “the OHR welcomes any initiative that could unblock progress in reforms so as to increase the functionality and efficiency of the state, and thus accelerate the progress of BiH on its path towards the European Union.”
The new approach has been defined in April this year, and the initiative comes from the United Kingdom and Germany, containing the necessary reforms in order to unblock the EU integration process of BiH.
The initiative was presented as part of the 6th Aspen Conference of Foreign Ministers of South Eastern Europe, which was held yesterday in Berlin, organized by the Aspen Institute Germany.
It is said that the initiative of London and Berlin focuses on economic reforms, rule of law and better functioning of the state.
It was also stressed that BiH urgently needs creation of new job and economic development and fulfillment of chapters 23 and 24 of the EU acquis on the rule of law and strengthening the functionality and administrative capacity of the country.
