The poll that was carried out at the end of January of this year and initiated by OHR confirms that the majority of Mostar citizens want the two largest political parties in the city to reach a compromise in order to end the long and damaging crisis.
It is significant that more than 74 percent of those who took the poll, including the majority of Croats and Bosniaks, said that they support the creation of multiethnic urban areas, as well as multiethnic constituencies that would elect the City Council, announced OHR.
Nearly three-fourths of those polled believe that urban areas need to have permanent role in city administration.
When asked whether HDZ BiH and SDA should remain in their positions, even if that would lead to a collapse, more than 80 percent (Croats and Bosniaks) answered ‘no’.
‘’Not only did the citizens who took part in the poll gave their clear support for a fair and reasonable compromise-the level of compromise was nearly the same for all three constituent peoples. The message is clear: citizens of Mostar want serious talks and a sensible agreement’’, according to an OHR statement.
