The number of migrants who entered BiH in large groups since the beginning of the year decreased because the state border is under greater control thanks to better allocation of police forces, as noted by the Minister of Security of BiH, Dragan Mektic.
Considering the data on the number of entries, he noted that a total of 12,752 migrants illegally entered BiH, out of which 12,337 expressed their interest in the asylum, 1,009 migrants filed request for the asylum, while BiH returned 713 migrants based on readmission.
After the session of the Operational Staff for the Migration Issues of BiH, he stated that 77 migrants are staying in East Sarajevo, there are currently 57 migrants in Delijas, and there are also 213 of them placed in the complex Sedra in the village of Ostrozac near Cazin and they are mostly families with children.
When it comes to new accommodation capacities, the Minister of Security stated that works on the barracks Usivak in Hadzici are taking place as well as on Students Home in Bihac. When it comes to Agrokomerc in Velika Kladusa, he noted that they have a problem with the local government.
Mektic also reminded that the issue of migrations is not a problem of BiH, but the fact that the countries of EU could not adequately respond to it, which migrants are striving to reach and thus they use BiH as a transit country.
He also emphasized that the number of migrants on the area of Una-Sana Canton was considerably decreased, and there are about 1,500 of them who are currently presenting no treat to security or normal life in these local communities.
