Old mosque in Orahovica, about 25 kilometers away from Zenica, is only one of the national monuments in B&H that are left to themselves and weather conditions that are bringing them to the ruinous state.
Although the old mosque in Orahovica was declared as national monument on the 7th of September 2011, the Government of FB&H is responsible for ensuring all the legal, scientific, technical, administrative and financial measures that are necessary for protection, preserving, restoration and presentation of the National Monument ever since. However, the mosque is locked for years.
The mosque is around 150 years old and inscriptions on tombstones in the yard of the local cemetery testify its age. It was built out of 60 centimeters thick stone and rectangular in shape, and there is a 2.5 meters high wooden minaret on the roof.
The fortress in Maglaj is one of the oldest and the largest which is located in the valley of the river Bosna. It has been a tourist attraction of Maglaj for a long time, but in recent years no one takes particular care about the fortress with a rich history. Local people are taking care of the object of the fortress.
The question is whether the current process of filing an appeal and procedures for reconstruction are too difficult task for managers of national monuments in B&H, which are testifying by the history of our country, or there is simply no will to invest in their preservation.
