A movie “Rose in Winter” of American director Joshua Sinclaire, featuring celebrated BH actress Zana Marjanovic, will be screened at the United Nations in Geneva on November 7th.
“A Rose in Winter” recounts the extraordinary life of Edith Stein. Born Jewish, she demonstrated uncompromising courage as an outspoken advocate for equity in the Woman’s Right Movement at the onset of National Socialism in Germany, and though her actions, as a Carmelite Nun, challenging the very foundation of the Holy See to stand up against the Holocaust: a path which would lead to her martyrdom in Auschwitz.
According to the UN announcement, this film will serve as an introductory conversation on “Lessons for the Future and Peace Building: How History Can Enlighten Current Practice to Confront Modern Peace Challenges”. One of the speakers on this topic will be Zana Marjanovic.
This year’s film will have a pre-premiere in Cannes, and is also featured at the Cineways Film Festival in Wolfsburg, where it was named the best film of the Competition Program and the Germany International Film Festival held near Munchen, where it won a special jury prize.
