Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanić congratulated Christmas to the Serbian Patriarch Irinej, metropolitans, episcopes, clergy and monkhood of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and all Orthodox believers.
“Christmas is the day when we mark one of the most joyful events – the day when Christ was born. Christmas is a holiday of love, peace, and family. Although it is a Christian holiday, it brings along the human values that are mutual to all people and all religions.
Messages of peace and tolerance are especially important now, when we live in the time when many core values of the mankind seem to be ceasing to exist. Unity, peace, and love as values that Christmas promotes are especially important in Bosnia and Herzegovina. History, and especially the more recent history, taught us what happens when these values are gone and when hatred and discord take the scene and bring war. In this case, only ordinary people suffer enormously.
That is why we should try to do whatever we can to reduce conflicts and promote tolerance and agreement. I am convinced that it is not that difficult and that, when we want something, we can do it.
To all Serbs in Republika Srpska, FBiH, to our brothers in Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and the diaspora, as well as to other Orthodox believers in BiH and around the globe, I wish happy Christmas holidays and I hope they will spend them with their dearest ones in good atmosphere.
With the traditional greeting “Peace of God, Christ is Born” I salute you,” it is stated in the congratulatory note by the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanić.
Ivanić organized a Christmas reception in the Presidency of BiH on Thursday on the occasion of Christmas.
