Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektic held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Internal Affairs of the Federal Republic of Austria Wolfgang Sobotka.
During the meeting, interlocutors discussed the strengthening of bilateral and police cooperation and exploitation of the opportunities given by the Convention on Police Cooperation of countries of Southeast Europe (PCC SEE). Moreover, they discussed the establishment of new regional projects that would enable faster and more efficient data exchange and police cooperation.
A joint action by BiH and Austria in which several people were arrested in Vienna and Graz and it was seen as the common fight against terrorism and positive example. The problem with which both states are faced is seen through people who are fighting on the battlefields in Syria and Iraq on the side of terrorist organizations. It is concluded that it is necessary to continue the timely exchange of information and cooperation between security agencies in this area.
Minister Sobotka pointed out that Austria has great interest to support BiH on its European path and that this cooperation will continue in the future through direct assistance, but also through training and transfer of experience to help BiH to fulfill the necessary requirements and standards in the security sector.
