Canton Tuzla will host the NATO EADRCC disaster exercise “Bosnia and Herzegovina 2017”, which is scheduled for September 25 to 29. It will include 1,300 people
Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektic stated that there is a global interest of BiH for this exercise that will be held in this capacity and it will be an opportunity for BH resources and capacities of the civil protection and rescue sector to train new skills.
“This is a great opportunity to get introduced to new ways of the fight against disasters, as well as ways of eliminating the consequences of natural disasters, and to train technical achievements in these sectors, and gain new skills and knowledge in the disaster,” said Mektic.
He also noted that BiH has a decentralized civil protection system, which is the reason why it is important to learn how to respond to a disaster in an organized manner and its consequences but also to create opportunities for work together with surrounding countries.
This exercise is demanding from the aspect of the organization, and Minister Mektic noted that it will contribute to the image of BiH in a global sense.
As he noted, this exercise is in the interest of citizens and it is organized in the Partnership for Peace with NATO.
1,300 people will take part in this exercise, of which about 500 will be participants from 30 different countries. There will be 35 teams. The group of subjects who will take part in the exercise is diverse, and they include search and rescue teams with different capabilities, capacities, and experiences.
