The Muslim humanitarian society “Merhamet” is helping migrants from Syria and other countries who are temporarily staying in BiH on a daily basis. Their employees are visiting locations where migrants are staying in Sarajevo and Bihac and they are delivering food, groceries, clothing and hygienic supplies for them.
President of Merhamet, Hajrudin Sahic, stated that this humanitarian organization, in accordance with its capabilities, will continue helping migrants in the Canton Sarajevo, the Una-Sana Canton and all other locations where their help is needed.
“Merhamet is trying to find the best solutions for migrants, among which are numerous families with children, in constant conversation with relevant institutions in BiH. Merhamet also discussed this issue with representatives of the Ministry for Refugees and Displaced Persons of BiH. We are helping these poor people who found their shelter in BiH since their arrival, in accordance with our capabilities and despite the fact that the response of competent institutions is slow,” stated Sahic.
According to Sahic, Merhamet doubled its efforts since the beginning of the arrival of migrants in BiH.
“Our goal is to provide the most necessary help in food, clothing and hygiene supplies to these people. We believe that this problem will be solved systematically and that our help will be more efficient then. Merhamet’s help is not a one-time help. We are on the field every day and we are helping migrants in order for them not to be hungry. We went through the same in the period from 1992 to 1995 and that is why our citizens are especially sensitive when it comes to migrants,” said Sahic.
