Member of the Presidency of BiH Dragan Covic is optimistic that BiH will activate the MAP by the end of the year, as an important step towards the final membership in NATO.
“Nothing can stand on our way to the European Union and the NATO Alliance. Next month, I will meet with Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of NATO, to discuss the activation of MAP for BiH in December,” stated Covic on his official Twitter profile.
“The Road of BiH to activate the MAP was significantly slowed down by court disputes over the registration of military assets from the entity to the state, to which the entity of Republika Srpska is strongly opposed. However, with the last decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, with which was ruled that the military object at Han Pijesak must be registered on the state, we got opened space to accelerate this process as well.”
“No one can block our NATO path, although there are different speculations in public. All Serbian parties have a unique position and you will see how all of that will be strengthened, primarily after the visit of President Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday and Friday. They agree their position on NATO alliance with Serbia, but when it comes to MAP, the position of all Serbian parties and the SNSD is that it is going according to planned dynamic and I am convinced that we will get the activation of the plan at a ministerial meeting in December,” said Covic in Mostar.
