“The existing system of financing the construction of Corridor 5C is such that it definitely cannot allow the further development of the entire transport infrastructure in BiH. With this dynamics of construction, the highway will not be completed in the next 10-15 years,” said Ismir Jusko, the Minister of Transport and Communications of BiH.
Jusko claims that solution of the problem and speeding up the construction of the highway is in the public-private partnership, in which the joint operation of the state and large private companies would enable their faster investment and greatly shorten the period of construction of infrastructure throughout the country.
“Why would not we let foreign investors to invest their money in BiH so that in the next 5 years we construct more than we would in the next 15 years,” said Jusko.
He said that he will have a series of meetings at all levels of government in September in order to start this story about a public-private partnership and in order for this model to be a way of financing of further infrastructure.
“We already have offers from investors from Turkey, Austria, China, and other countries. I responsibly claim that we would get construction sites throughout the country. Turkey has built one of the largest bridges in the world in only 3 years by working on this model. Why are we running away from it,” said Jusko.
