The EU Foreign Affairs Council has appointed Mr Lars-Gunnar Wigemark as EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He will also be the Head of the EU Delegation in Sarajevo.
Lars-Gunnar Wigemark is currently the Head of the EU Delegation in Pakistan and has 30 years of experience in the Swedish and European diplomatic service. He performed various duties abroad including the ones in Moscow and Washington and worked on a wide spectre of activities of the Department for Security policy of the European Comission.
Wigemark will replace Peter Sorensen who was Head of the EU Delegation since September 1st 2011. He will start with work as of march 1st 2015.
The high representative of the EU for Foreign and security policy Federica Mogherini, stated on the occasion of nominating Wigemark for the new post that “the EU supports B&H on its path towards EU”.
