It is largely unknown fact that British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest minds of our time who passed away at the age of 76, was among the first world intellectuals who raised their voice against aggression against BiH back in 1990’s.
Haris Pasovic, the director, the first man of the independent theatre company East West Center and the artistic director of the great Italian art festival Mittelfest reminded on this on the occasion of Hawking’s death.
Pasovic noted that Hawking compared the attack on Sarajevo with the Munich meeting back in 1938, after which followed the World War II.
The East West Center still keeps his message to the MES Festival, in which Hawking wrote on August 4, 1993:
“The attack on Sarajevo is a cruelty that should not be allowed in a world that claims for itself to be civilized. I am very disappointed with the reaction of Western governments. This is almost as bad as Munich. I am sending my best wishes and support to citizens of Sarajevo. Steven Hawking”.
Pasovic also stated that Stephen Hawking was one of the greatest sons that humanity ever had.
