The Massachusetts Review Journal published a comic that was based on one of the stories by Karim Zaimović “The Secret of Nikola Tesla”.
The story was turned into a comic by a very talented comic book artist Enis Čišić and a journalist and translator Aleksandar Brezar.
Karim Zaimović (1971-1995) was one of the greatest literary talents in this region in the 20th century and a great fan of comic books.
His tragic death prevented his full development and realization of an enormous literary talent.
However, his book, a collection of short stories “The Secret of Raspberry Jam” made sure that Zaimović secures his place in the history of BiH literature.
He wrote the book during the siege of Sarajevo and last year it was adapted into an eponymous theater performance directed by Selma Spahić that is shown in the Sarajevo War Theater SARTR, and now it has been turned into a comic book form.
Aleksandar Brezar in December 2012 decided to take on Karim’s story and try to put it into a comic form, and he chose his favorite one “The Secret of Nikola Tesla”.
“I asked around who could be capable enough to take on the job, as a cartoonist, to engage in something like that and so I met Enis Ćišić, a genius from Sarajevo and a comic book artist.
I wanted it to be done by someone from BiH, because it was important to me to work with someone who will have the skill to convey the aesthetic, architecture and atmosphere of the life in Sarajevo and in BiH at the time when Karim wrote his stories,” Brezar explained.
