Irish journal Irish Independent published a story about the famous B&H football player and current national team head coach Mehmed Bazdarevic, before the first play-off match for the European Championship in France 2016, which national football teams of B&H and Ireland will play at Bilino Polje in Zenica on Friday.
Irish journal states that the popular Mesa played for Sochaux and Nimes in France, and that he led Istres, Grenoble and Sochaux as a coach. European Championship that will be played next year in France, a country that was his second homeland, could be some kind of personal redemption for Bazdarevic. However, no matter what happens in the playoff matches against Ireland, it has to be admitted that Mesa had a great influence on the national football team of B&H.
“When he was appointed as the head coach, B&H had only 2 points from 4 matches and they were defeated by Cyprus at the opening of the qualifications. The chances for qualifying for the Euro were very small. However, maybe he had a bit of luck as 2 of his first 4 matches were against Andorra, which allowed B&H team to make a positive series. Bazdarevic’s first job was diplomatic, he assured players that the team is still worth fighting. He defeated national teams of Israel and Wales at home and then celebrated with 3: 2 in a dramatic match in Cyprus and qualified for the play-offs,” reported the Irish Independent.
“National team of B&H has no longer problems with injuries, and Bazdarevic has all players available. Edin Dzeko, who is considered as a talisman of the team, announced that he is back in shape with goals for Roma,” as stated in the text that was published by the Irish journal.
