“Džipijada”, which gathered about thirty jeeps from B&H and Serbia, was held in Zvornik yesterday.
The president of the Safari section of the Rafting Club “Eco Drina” from Zvornik, Mišo Blagojević, told reporters that the hilly and mountainous path that participants will drive is about 40 kilometers long, and goes from Karakajska hills to the Zvornik plain.
He added that “Džipijada” is a competitive event that was organized within the 21st of May – Day of the Municipality of Zvornik.
The oldest participant of “Džipijada” was 52-year old Russian jeep driver “Gaz” from 1956.
Welcoming the participants’ of ˝Džipijada” and wishing them a comfortable ride and a good placement, the Head of Department for Economy, Agriculture and Social Activities of the municipality of Zvornik, Milan Cvjetinović, recalled that the members of the Safari section of the Rafting Club “Eco Drina” showed humanity last year during the May floods.
“In the most difficult moments, a large number of members of the Safari section delivered food and water to the vulnerable population with their jeeps and saved the assets of threatened households,” said Cvjetinović.
He added that a number of these brave people took part in the actions of rescuing people and material goods in Bijeljina villages that were affected by the floods.
