The US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack stated last night in Sarajevo at the reception held on the occasion of the July 4, the Independence Day of the USA, that the presence of the delegation of the city of Dayton at the celebration of the 240th anniversary of the existence of USA shows the deep bond between the two countries.
“Of course, the citizens of BiH nurture a special friendship with this country. The peace negotiations that were held there more than two decades ago mean that Dayton and BiH will be bonded forever,” said Ambassador Cormack while addressing invitees from political, religious, social and diplomatic rows.
Ambassador Cormack added that the citizens of Dayton understand the similarities that exist between the two countries, probably better than the majority of Americans.
“They understand the similarities between our beginnings and our foundations, that the USA and BiH are two countries where the citizens from different areas and with different pasts dared to jointly shape the future,” said the Ambassador of USA to BiH.
Cormack also highlighted that BiH has an open door for membership in the EU, pointing out that political leaders and parties have committed to the following of that path and that it is time to overcome the differences in attitudes.
During the addressing speech, the Ambassador Cormack also thanked the representatives of 22 companies that are connected with the US companies and who contributed to the marking of the Independence Day of USA at the Embassy of the USA in Sarajevo.
