Producers and processors of milk met with Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Sarovic to try to find a common solution to the negative effects that this sector will feel after the adaptation of Stabilization and Association Agreement come into force. The conclusion of the meeting is to work together to solve the problem and alleviate the consequences.
“The meeting was attended by a total of nine owners of dairies and we had a very useful and constructive meeting. We talked about the system of monitoring and management quotas that will enter the country duty-free. Cross of the impact of adaptation of the SAA in the market will be made in mid-year. We are cooperating with dairies without any problems and it will be like that in the future as well,” said Minister Sarovic.
Dairy owners are also pleased with the meeting although they will be under the greatest impact, but they are hoping for a solution.
“I have to say that the Ministry is acting very responsibly. The act of presentation of potential developments gives us the hope that we will overcome the problems. The SSA is a fact and it will not and cannot be changed, but we agreed to keep in touch and work together. BiH once mostly exported to Croatia, and today it is hard to return to this market because there were major changes in the EU market, and BH producers are uncompetitive. However, there is no place for panic, and we need to do something to alleviate the situation,” said Adin Cramer from the Association of Dairy Industry of BiH.
Cramer says that BH authorities have never shown that agriculture is considered as a strategic field, and agriculture is not mentioned in any of the six areas of the Reform Agenda, which refers to priorities.
