Irma Gredić-Lopo, a shop worker, has launched a humanitarian project for all residents of Kakanj who need help in these cold winter days. Namely, those who have money can leave a jacket for the less fortunate.
Gredić-Lopo is an employee in a shop specializing in selling children’s clothes, but she wanted to include citizens of all ages in her humanitarian project.
The humanitarian project with the slogan “You’ve got an extra jacket – give one, you need a jacket – take one”, made on the model of other cities in Europe, aims to help those in need, especially those who cannot buy themselves a jacket in these cold days.
“We are witnessing very low temperatures this winter and many people in Kakanj, especially the least fortunate, cannot afford a jacket. We welcome people of all ages, all adults who have an extra jacket or other item in their closets. Everyone can participate in the scheme and I urge everyone to leave their winter coats and other clothing for someone to wear in these cold days” adds Gredić-Lopo.
This scheme will run throughout winter.
“We will see how many people will participate in the action. Today, some people came here asking questions, some of them said that they have something extra and that this project is a good idea” says Gredić-Lopo, adding that she hopes that the scheme will spread to other cities as well.
Anyone who needs a jacket can find one in front of the clothing shop in Branilaca Street, Kakanj.
The important thing to note is that Mrs. Irma Gredić-Lopo has the support of the store manager where she works, who has donated two children’s jackets, while she herself has donated a further jacket.
Similar projects were also launched in several other cities in BiH, in the hope that people who cannot afford jackets will benefit greatly.
