Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Mirza Ganic and Minister of Veterans’ Affairs Fahrudin Colakovic met on Wednesday in barracks in Zenica with Deputy Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo Colonel Morten Henriksen and Commander of the 5th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH) Brigadier Emir Kliko.
The interlocutors spoke about the cooperation of the civilian authorities of the ZDC with the AFBiH and NATO during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Ganic thanked the NATO Headquarters for their contribution to strengthening peace and political stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are the foundation of prosperity and a better life for all citizens.
“In the midst of the pandemic, the Armed Forces of BiH made its resources available and provided tents, beds and blankets, helped organize triage points in health facilities, and with the logistical assistance of NATO disinfected facilities in Maglaj. The help of the AFBiH at a key moment is a signal that civilian authorities can count on the help of the Armed Forces in the greatest trouble,” said Ganic.
The Prime Minister of ZDC informed Colonel Henriksen and Brigadier Kliko about the activities undertaken by the civilian authorities of ZDC after the outbreak of the pandemic, in order to strengthen the capacities of the health sector and protect the lives of citizens, provide assistance to the economy and finally create conditions for the beginning of a new school year.
The Deputy Commander of the NATO Headquarters in BiH reiterated that NATO is committed to providing support to the Armed Forces of BiH, and that such visits provide a better insight into the condition and work of Armed Forces units on the ground.
He expressed satisfaction with good cooperation of the AFBiH units with the civilian authorities of the ZDC, as well as with the organization of the Red Cross, whose representative also attended the meeting.
