Since March 31, 2015 until the middle of this month, the number of employees in FBiH has increased by 24.952 people. This is reflected in the growth of income from direct taxes in the first nine months of this year, said the advisor to the prime minister of FBiH Goran Miraščić.
New workplaces, growth of GDP, increased collection of direct taxes, those are all segments in which FBiH achieved progress.
“Income from direct taxed in the first nine months of this year is higher by 11.1 percent than in the first nine months of last year. That is a lot more than the growth of our GDP which amounts to 3.13 percent. However, that is still a result of better collection of taxes, better fiscal discipline, and generally improved work of the Tax Administration of FBiH,” said Miraščić.
Miraščić said that the intentions are to end this year with 3.2 percent of GDP growth.
“Projections for next year foresee between 3.6 and 4 percent of GDP growth. However, that depends on many internal and external factors. Direct influence of the GDP growth is already visible – nearly 25.000 of newly employed citizens. Of course, the number of retirees also increased and that annuls the number of newly employed citizens. We still have a deficit in the Institute for pension and disability insurance, but this gives us optimism that, if we continue working like this, our GDP will continue growing,” said Miraščić.
Miraščić emphasizes that this could mean a more significant fall in the unemployment rate.
“What is the most important is that the negative trend has stopped. We have a positive growth in the number of employees, and BIH records the highest GDP growth in the region. Also, the FBiH records growth of income from direct taxes of 11.1 percent and 3.1 percent from indirect taxes. This all tells us that something positive is going on in the BiH economy,” Miraščić concluded.
