The Federal Hydrometeorological Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced an orange warning for the strong weather and stormy winds in Herzegovina and southwest Bosnia.
The warning is issued for the period from February 12thfrom 00:00 o’clock until the same day at 23:59 o’clock.
Strong winds will have a speed of 50 to 70 km/h, while temperatures of minus 1 to 5 degrees Celsius are expected.
New snowfalls have hit the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a very short period of time and significantly reduced the visibility of the roads.
Traffic is conducted normally and no major problems have been reported, but drivers are advised to drive cautiously. At the Sarajevo International Airport flights from Munich and Vienna are late, while the flight from Ljubljana has been canceled.
The Federal Meteorological Institute has announced that rain and snow will be expected in the coming days.
Snow came at the right time when the EYOF 2019 was held on the surrounding mountains. Older residents of Sarajevo recall of the Olympic Games held in 1984 when there was no snow but later, it fell on the first day of the competition.
