The Swedish company for manufacturing shoes “Kavat” has been operating in BiH since 2006 and started the production in 2009. The factory currently employs 150 workers, and with the opening of new facilities, they will employ another 50 workers.
A positive example of business, the business environment, and exports in BiH is certainly the company Kavat in Travnik. About 150 workers produce about 1,100 pairs of shoes on a daily basis in Travnik, which are mainly exported to Western Europe.
All footwear that is produced is in accordance with EU standards, and if there is the slightest mistake in the production, it will not be placed on the market. Most importantly, employees are satisfied with the job and work environment. The average salary is around 600 BAM, which is above average in this profession, workers are working one shift, they have paid annual leave of four weeks, and overtime is regularly paid as well.
“All these years, we kept liquidity. All employees are insured, and we never used any benefits from the municipality or the local community. Our goal is that workers feel good, to evaluate their work and to expand our production,” said Sabic.
The guiding principle behind Kavat is an investment in young people and adapting the organization of work and conditions to the one in Sweden. Modern halls of company Kavat that will be constructed in Novi Travnik and will cover 4,300 square meters, and the entire plot that Kavat provided covers 13,000 square meters.
